Cut Ups: Everyday No. 02 by Katie Pertiet
Digital scrapbooking has become my primary means of scrapbooking for the past five years. For me, it's faster, easier, less expensive, and much less messier. However, I understand that many, many people disagree with me and/or prefer a more hands-on feeling and love the feel and the texture of paper supplies. And I will admit to occasionally missing that aspect myself.
One of the reasons I was drawn to Project Life was that I can combine both. It is a much, much simpler form of paper scrapbooking yet I can incorporate what I love most about digital scrapbooking - the ability to use supplies over and over again and the ability to completely customize them.
Here's how I'm using my digital elements in Project Life. All of my supplies are from DesignerDigitals. (Obviously, Project Life also has a digital version if you want to go that way.) For the sake of this tutorial, I am assuming that you have a bit of knowledge about Photoshop Elements but if not, DesignerDigitals has some excellent free getting-started tutorials here. If you would like more detailed instructions, leave me a comment and I'll try to get that by the first of next week.
Katie Pertiet's Cut Ups that you see above come in individual png files like the one below.
I wanted to be able to add these word strips directly to photos and journaling cards at my leisure. So, I simply took all of the png files from Katie's Cut Ups and added them onto a blank white 8.5 x 11 document in Photoshop Elements.
I had some empty space in the middle so I also added some of Katie Pertiet's Ledger Button Words No. 01.
Once I moved the elements onto the blank Photoshop document, I simply printed it out on white cardstock and cut them out. This is how they look ready to go in my office.
I did the same thing with a lot more elements from DesignerDigitals, including the tags from Katie Pertiet's Sweet St. Nicholas Kit,
Cathy Zielske's Journal It! No. 01 Brushes and Stamps, Ali Edwards' Life is Good Labels Brushes and Stamps, Ali Edwards' Yesterday and Today: Challenges Word Art Brushes and Stamps, and some smaller versions of the tags above.
I also did another collage using more of Ali's stamps above - just in different sizes, plus hearts from Ali's Siblings Brushes and Stamps, Ali's For The Love of Lists Brushes and Stamps (I can see myself using this one a LOT), Ali's For the Love of Words, and more from Ali's Yesterday and Today: Challenges Word Art Brushes and Stamps.
Here's a few more shots of the supplies after I printed them and cut them apart.
This tag below is from Katie Pertiet's Dating 2011-2012 Tags.
I have also printed off quite a few more since the week began and I'll link to them as I use them. :)
I can't wait to put together my first week of Project Life!
