Inspiration is everywhere

I've had to put a lot of scrapbooking work on hold this week due to some photography committments and a secret sewing project. (Why do I always forget how much I love to quilt??) In the meantime, here's two layouts that I made for Scrapbook Update recently. These layouts were made for my Pinterest Inspiration series and I just adore writing these articles. Scrapbooking inspiration is everywhere. :)

I am getting so darn sappy about Emily finishing 8th grade. A new series at Scrapbook Update

You may have noticed a new weekly series at Scrapbook Update. It's called Gallery Highlights and it's a really fun feature! Our goal is to find layouts and cards and other paper crafts in the various online galleries that are worthy of a special highlight - those that really jumped out at us when we looked through the gallery and made us want to take a closer look. It is soooooo much fun to do!!!

And I've gotten a few questions so I thought I'd post just a couple of points here:

• We find the layouts simply by having the oh-so-tedious* task of looking through various online scrapbook galleries. *please note the sarcasm - this is quickly becoming the best part of my week. :)
• Right now, I am the one choosing the layouts but I'm sure there will come a time when Nancy or someone else also chooses them.
• We are open to ALL kinds of scrapbooking and paper crafts - layouts, digi, cards, mini-albums, etc... I'm looking at all of them. 
• We will request your layout before we post them. If we don't hear back from you, we will not use your layout. So, please, please check your private messages at the various scrapbooking sites. ;) And saying, "Thanks but no thanks" is totally okay, too.
• We will ALWAYS link to your layout and give you credit!!! Our goal is to draw more attention to all the amazingly creative projects out there and to draw more attention to the designers' works. We want to give you the attention. :)
• So if you have a friend say,"What the heck is this message about a layout request???," send them here or to Scrapbook Update to learn more. :)

Elizabeth is learning Photoshop

I gave Libby her first lesson in Photoshop tonight. As I mentioned last week, we've all become obsessed with Darren Criss' music. Not that I have a massive schoolgirl crush on him or anything but that man is hotttttttt.

So she asked for a photo of Darren Criss and then asked how to resize the image, use the text tool, and add paper. So, I showed her. 

And this is what she came up with.

I am dying laughing!!!!!! Libby wants to be famous so badly and she thinks she's found a way. ;)

And she's right about one thing - Mom does think he's so pretty. ;) Not that I'm 19-years-older than him or anything.

A bit of progress

I've got photos printed for week 12. Not a darn thing for week 13, though. :p

I'm starting to feel a bit better but my chest is starting to tighten up and sting a bit when I cough so I'm not going to overdo it. In the meantime, I've got to find a way to make up this miserable spring break to my kids. I've had to have Em cancel some fun things for this week and turn down babysitting jobs so that she can stay here and help me. And poor Andrew and Libby haven't been able to have their friends over. 

I'm thinking ice cream for breakfast?! Think that will put me back in their good graces? ;)

I did manage to get a layout scrapped yesterday.

And, on another note, this little guy quarterbacked his team to victory last night in their first win!!!! He is just incredible and I can't wait to watch him succeed over the summer!

How much longer?

Last week, Emily and I had a few minutes alone and ran to the mall to do an errand. We took a quick self-portrait with my cell phone and I put the phone away. Later that day, I opened up my phone and happened upon the photo. And for some reason, it took my breath away - in a panicky way. She just looks so tall, so old, and it hit me, "How much longer? How much longer will I have her at home? How much longer before I have to let her go?" And I could barely breathe.

I've been going back to that photo in my mind for days now and then I read Cathy's blog post yesterday about her daughter. Same emotions, same feelings. So, I decided to put my thoughts down on virtual paper with the photo. 

There are not enough words to describe how much I love this child.

Scrapbook Writing Position Opening

Almost three months ago, I started writing scrapbooking articles for Scrapbook Update. And I love it! The staff is so much fun to work with, it's a very flexible schedule and I get to write about a subject I love. Plus, I get to work from home. ;)

Digital Obsessions

Since my old laptop died last week, I've spent every spare moment moving documents, photos, and digi scrapbooking supplies over to the new computer. 

And I have over 30,000 digi files to tag. It's going to take weeks. UGH. 

In the meantime, it's not leaving me much time for digi scrapping and I really, really miss it. Here are some of my latest layouts - I can't wait to have some time to work on some more.
