I love new beginnings. Mondays, the first of every month, each new season, the first day of school, the first day of summer, and especially new years. I love the way that a new beginning feels fresh and makes me feel refreshed. Usually I start a lot of new projects with the new year - new calendars, new scrapbooking projects, new home schedules, and so on. And I'm not terrible with finishing them. But certainly not as dedicated as I am to starting them.
This year, I'm doing something different. I'm finishing things. And not starting new projects until I finish the ones in progress. In many areas of my life. Some tangible, some not so.
Here are just a few of the things I want to finish this year. These are the tangible projects but I'm working on a list of the intangibles, too.
Every year, we frame the Christmas photos and then put all of the photos up around the house during the holiday season. We're up to 16 years of kid Christmas photos. Or should be. About 3 years ago, I stopped framing them. And didn't frame this year's either. That needs to change.
This photo wall is the first thing you see when you walk into the house. And I love it. And most people comment on it. But the most recent photo is 4 years old. And...
it just stops mid-way up the wall. It doesn't look too bad from downstairs but it looks terrible from upstairs. I don't have a ladder that lets me reach that high or from a set of stairs so I just stopped and never finished it. And see that horrid brass chandelier peeking out? It's about the only brass fixture left in the house and it's enormous and right in the middle of the entryway. Same problem.....no ladder. Need to find one and work on this stuff.
And so many sewing projects.
These pillow shams. Suposed to be a birthday present for someone in November. Sigh.
And this patchwork quilt for Emily that I cut out about 9 months ago. (Becky is my quilting companion.)
And then there's scrapping projects. Sigh. This is my biggest project. Project Life. I think I made it to May. Or Mayish. Which might mean April. Or even March.
And Em's academic team album. I never finished her state championship book last year and she has since won another state championship on another team. Oops.
So, 2014 will be the year to FINISH. Anyone else in?
